Résumé : The case studies in this volume draw on a variety of theoretical frameworks and disciplines. Indeed, analysing employment in the tourism sector requires a plural, blended approach. Here we have fully embraced this pluridisciplinary dimension. As this book reaches its conclusion, we believe it is important to briefly discuss the exceptional period of 2020-2021. While the studies presented here predate the COVID-19 pandemic, the effects of this crisis on the economics of tourism have largely resonated with social science scholars. The years 2020 and 2021 were an entirely unprecedented, atypical historical period for tourism businesses worldwide. So far, few studies have assessed the longer-term impact of the crisis. In France, a nationwide study was commissioned by the Ministry of Labour in 2021 to capture the reality of tourism work and opportunities in the field of lifelong training. By way of a conclusion to this book, we will present the main findings of that research. [résumé auteurs]
